I thought it was AIGHT. I'm with CT4 because I loved the "Cafeteria Lady" skit ("I'm like a bicycle wit the seat off, I'll get in yo azz, okay?")
Umm. What was up with the "Que hora es" skit? I'm studying Spanish and I was like  I liked the "Bring Your Kids to Work" skit. I don't know, maybe it doesn't take much for me to laugh. :D Hopefully things will get better next week |
Ced's Show
The cafeteria lady was funny b/c I knew someone just like her in school. The Que Hora Es skit was funny b/c if you heard the intro, he said that it was for "people who had three weeks of Spanish in the 4th grade." I had two years of Spanish in high school, and that's pretty much all we learned. Que Hora Es means what time is it. The bring your kids to work skit was funny, too.
Other than that, I was not laughing much. Hubby, however was ROTFLHAO. Secretly, I think that he was laughing way too hard b/c Ceddy's his frat and all and they gots to support one another. I see this show lasting no more than 5-6 episodes unless major changes are made like better cast members, special guest appearances, funnier characters. |
Cedric Kyles as headliner
Maybe it was because I'd had a Stoli Razberi gimlet , but I actually found the show somewhat amusing. I liked the cafeteria lady, although the big-man-in-drag scenario is played out (think Nutty Professor w/Eddie Murphy).
So was Que Hora Es. As a sidebar, some of his writers and producers date back to In Living Color days, e.g. Matthew Wickline. |
I love some Ceddie also, but his first show was mostly...BORING...or BUM (as my daughter would put it) and not characteristic of him at all. Now the cafateria lady scene and the scene with Wendy Rachel Robinson as the news anchor who brought her kids to the set was really funny. Other than that, I could have watched a rerun of Law and Order. But who knows? Maybe...just MAYBE... he'll have a better show next week. If not, then we can FORGET about this show staying on and I can go back to watching my reruns. :D :D :D

She was "36" when the show started because Kim was 18 and she had an 18 year jump on Kim, but if it was four years ago, she should be 40-41ish. So this is the second "uplanned" pregnancy she's had to face huh?:o And you have the educational background to be a "professor:rolleyes: " at a junior college, but you're at 7-11? Hmmmmm. And please, please do not tell me they are still in community college. Don't tell me that. And I've always wondered, before she quit selling "Lady Egyptian" cosmetics, was that the only job she had??? That's like selling Mary Kay and I know you cannot afford to get your hair done weekly, have a nice wardrobe like hers, and rent a nice apartment while still going to school on that salary. The writers for this sitcom need to be put in the street and ran over by a loaded charter bus. I was thinking of tuning in next week, but nah:p . Thanks CT4 for the info. |
GLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORY!!!
PERMANENTLY PARKED: It seems as though the future of the hit UPN sitcom, “The Parkers” is bleak. As a matter of fact, there is no future for the popular show.
The RU Report has exclusively learned that the physical comedy –starring plus-sized funny-woman Mo’Nique and TV star Countess Vaughan-- will shutter with the taping of the January 23 show after a five-year run. Created by sitcom veterans Ralph Farquhar, Sara V. Finney and Vida Spears, the “Moesha” spin-off centered on the comical exploits of a feisty, fashionably hip mother and her dim-witted daughter, both students at the same college. The show has been a staple on the network’s Monday night line-up and has served as a launching pad for other successful shows, such as “Eve,” “Girlfriends” and “One On One.” According to a production insider, the powers that be at UPN – a Viacom property—didn’t want to continue producing the show because of its cost. After 110 episodes, the show recently went into syndication. Hmmmm. I’ll go on the record and say it: When is comes to shows targeted to the African American demo, as soon as syndication rights roll around – the show goes down the tubes (no pun intended). Meanwhile, some “other” shows can still be on the network, and be seen several times a day in syndication. How clear! We were told to stay tuned for more details. But why wait for someone else to deliver the news on the demise of another show that’s a favorite amongst Black households. Which ones?? Not mine!! What will be interesting is to see what show will fill “The Parkers”’ slot. Even more interesting is what will happen to the cast members. Mo’Nique, a best-selling author and host of the Suzanne De Passe-helmed “Showtime At The Apollo,” seemed to be the only one who diversified her portfolio. Well wishes to them all. |
I hope they do cancel this show.
Hated It!!! |
Oh well. Another one bites the dust.
I may be among the minority here, but I happened to like The Parkers.... |
This was a forward I received from a listserve.
If you are a fan of The Parkers. . . Well please sign the petition because (as the show wraps up) T. goes to Berkely, Stevie goes to UCLA, Mo'Nique is awaiting acceptance to Weatherly, when she gets proposed to by another man, and the professor gets a new teaching job at Weatherly. Kim is the only one who does not graduate, since she is 60 credits "shy", lol. She goes on to open her own business with Stevie being the business manager. So please sign the petition http://www.petitiononline.com/parkers/petition.html and lets see if we can keep the show on the air!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I won't be signing it, but for those of you who want to keep the show on the air:confused: :o have at it. |
PETITION TO SAVE THE PARKERS
The Parkers has been on the air since August 1999. Since then it has been like a rolling stone gathering moss, getting more popular year by year. Now there is word that the show is going off the air. I am asking all fans of this show to please sign this petition to help save "The Parkers". This show has been a staple in many African American homes since its inception. It proved to be a comedic show that people young and old alike could relate to. And although it does the best in African American homes, I think ALL people got a kick out it. Everyone knows a "Kim" or "Nikki Parker". Fans are shocked, mostly hurt, and some are even mad that their favorite show is going off the air. The Parkers is STILL in its prime, to end it now would be dreadful. I ask you UPN to please give The Parkers another season or two. We fans wont go as far as to boycott you because we were blessed enough to have the show this long. But with shows like Friends lasting 10seasons, I think "The Parkers" deserves, at the least, 1 or 2 more seasons. ************************************************** ** A staple in many African American homes. I'm sorry that cast and crew will be out of work. I know how it feels to be unemployed, but it is time this show improved or get cancelled. |
I looked at the petition; so far it has 28 signatures. ONe signature is HELGA PATACKY, LMAO. :D
