Accept gracefully.
"Thank you very much, the next time, it's on me." |
Delt alum, You are wise beyond your years! That was good advice:).

Actually, I used to have a tendency to check grab simply because I would feel uncomfortable letting somone I didn't know all that well buy me something (even food). I know i'm a bit different ( :) ) but with me people have to earn the right to spend money on me . . . when I let someone pay for my meal it shows that I'm finally comfortable with them and trust them. I've never given up a check on a first date if I could help it, at the least I'd insist on paying my own.

You could say something like "Thanks, but next time it'll be my treat". Or you could take her for ice cream, dessert, coffee or something afterwards just so you feel like you have returned the favor somewhat.
My fiance always found a sneaky way to pay for me when I would try to pay. But even though he paid for me a lot (yes, PAID, since our finances are almost combined now this close to the wedding) I would do stuff like buy him lunch before he could get out of class to do it himself and stuff like that. So it works out well that way. |
If it's a date, the man ALWAYS pays. I have never gone dutch unless it's with a friend.

Whoever asked that you two should go out, should pay, unless you are a great man and will pay regardless...or at least men should always try.
If she paid, that's OK, some women feel comfy doing that, again....did she ask you out? I hate when peolpe pay anything for me, but guys seem to like feeling like they took us out and showed us a good time...why spoil their fun! |
