Interesting. Can you explain the difference between an honorary service org, an honorary org, and a service org? I understand the difference between an honorary and a service, but not between those and an "honorary service". Glad to hear your SAI chapter is going strong! It's always nice to hear of a new chapter doing well. :) |
okay:
Honorary- Within departments & such at a school - a person can only belong to one per department etc. This is what TBS and KKY are. Service- Like APhiO and Gamma Sigma Sigma - do service work for lack of a better description! A person can only belong to one of these (from my understanding) Social- Duh. A person can only belong to one! Special Interest- Usually in a certain area, our SAI's are Special Interest - Music at our school. Professional- I dunno much about these, we dont have them! As far as I know a person can be in one of each like an honorary or six... lol, a social, a service, a s.i. and a prof. TBS and KKY are honorary - band orgs. We do service thats what we do... Did I confuse you more? I think I confused myself! LIGU Alison |
Maybe I understand a little better because I am apart of a few organizations.
But, I was hoping that Phi Mu Alpha was not going to join that national social councel. Though it may have helped with membership intake at some schools, at my chapter I know it would definitly prevent a lot from joining. And what about those members that are already part of Phi Mu Alpha and a social organization? Would they have to denounce thier membership to one org.? |
