Now, ya'll know Soror brings up a good point.
We know our peoples (momma, daddy, sister, brother, aunt-ee, grandma (in her new hat), grandpa, uncle, neighbor, etc) want to be able to see Tyrone, Nay-Nay, JuneBug and all of 'nem get that degree. We want to HEAR our names CALLED OUT...and tha man giving them that PIECE OF PAPER while they WALK across that stage so that we can scream....THANK YOU, JESUS and act like straight up so and so's! (That is sooooo embarrasing!) :o |

I love the idea of minority students having an intimate and personal ceremony to honor the achievements of the graduates. But, I do agree that these types of ceremonies may open the door for other groups, white supremacists, to hold gatherings under the same guise. Therefore, the universities should not be paying for these ceremonies. If groups want to have their own ceremonies, then they should pay for them. They should be totally private so that there can be no debate or opposition.
