This situation is actully not that uncommon. I have a cousin that "took the rap" for a guy. It must not have been a felony or anything because she got out pretty quick. Also, I had a friend to tell me that she was riding home with a guyy and the police stopped them. the guy tried to get her to take his drugs because she was underaged.

Sorry but....
Mista Man will have to do his dirt all by his lonesome. Especially since I wanna become a lawyer, going to jail for his stinkin' azz would jeopardize me doing what I have to do to take care of my family and myself. THERE'S NO MAN IN THIS WORLD WORTH GOING TO JAIL FOR!!!!!!!! (In my best Forrest Gump voice) And that's all I have to say about that!

A good example of this is in The Coldest Winter Ever. |
... okay... a male point of view...
If I do know the Ja-Rule video you are talking about, I believe an important point (which some of you have alluded to) is that Miss Red-head Baltimore was not exactly innocent. She was a very willing participant. So, in theory, had her man been caught, wouldn't she have done about the same time? I doubt plea-bargaining would have done her any good. Thus, I guess the theme of the video was loyalty. And, I am sure the promise of riches helped make her sentence easier. I can't feel to sorry for the fictional character. I think she earned her own rap, and made a financial decision. That being said, if any person decides to take the rap for anyone else, that persons has only himself or herself to blame. In my better moments, I dream of being so chilvarous that I do such for the love of my life. In reality, I am relieved that I won't have to make that decision. There is something about non-consensual physical relationships in prison that make you appreciate a law-abiding woman. Loyalty should not have to bow to the law. |
I always said "i wouldn't do this for a man and i wouldn't do that "but when i finally fell, i fell hard. I was under that spell. So I could say I would never take the rap for my man but I dont know. Your heart is stupid and it plays games clouds your judgement. You gotta find someone that will ryde or dye for you like you would for them.
p.s. Im a new sisterfriend Hi!!! |

I have to agree with MaNessa. A person does not know what they will do until that time comes. Most women, who are incarcerated, because they took the rap, were saying the same thing we are all saying, "We will NEVER take the blame in the name of love". However, the same women that made such statements, are now, sitting in prison, saying they did it because they "loved" their men. It's easy to say what we won't do, when the situation is not happening. But it becomes so difficult when we have to come face-to-face with negative situations, dealing with our loved ones. |

Monique, Even though most women won't admit it, a lot of us have been through, maybe not all, but most of the things you have listed. I don't care what anyone says, MOSt of us HAVE done a lot of negative things "in the name of love". But we have to learn from these things, and move on. That's part of life. Sistah, keep yo' head up. |
