My ex was a Delta Sig, and he got me more involved again as an alum (because he really was), so that was really cool.. but now, I find people that weren't Greek in college think it's weird that I'm still involved as an alum.. they just don't get it.
For me, it's a chance to get together with new people, and do quite a bit of community service again.
I think that last one is the only time I've actually dated a Greek since college.. and then it was pretty much Sigma Chi's and one LXA. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif

I must say...this weekend, my Sigma Chi boyfriend showed me how much he knows my friends/sisters mean to me. I have been out of town 400 miles away all summer, and this past weekend was the only weekend I was able to see him until September. He took my out to a fabulous early birthday dinner in one of the most romantic spots in the Cental Coast, and the evening was perfect. As we started to settle in and have some 'couple time' before hitting downtown, one of my sisters called, hysterical and crying. She needed me to come console her, Jason was sweet enough to interrupt our evening together and drive me over to her house. He sat quietly in his car for almost an hour while I wiped away her tears. After I calmed her down, he could see I was in pain for her, and took me out to relieve my stress. We talked, he made me laugh, he made me cry because of his deep love for me.

The next day, two of my best friends in the house arrived back in town from a week away. Jason was such a sweetheart to join us for lunch, and sit through 2 hours of sorority girl gab, even when some of the chit chat was about his fraternity brother (one of my sisters is dating a Sigma Chi, also) he just smiled, and added his thoughts...

All I can say is that I'm truly lucky...

My husband is an independent...

When we'd been dating about 6 months, my now-husband said "You know, I've heard about this thing called lavaliering, what is it?" so I explained. He said, "Well, if I were in a fraternity I'd lavalier you, but I'm not, so..." and gave me a little heart pendant with a diamond. And my sorority did a lavaliering ceremony for me just as if it were a regular lavalier! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ('Course, it helps that I was my chapter's ritualist at the time http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif )
