Do you mean the engagement ring/wedding band set or have you seen people with two different bands?

Usually you wear your engagement ring until the wedding day-then you take it off to exchange bands and place the engagement ring on top afterwards. Some women don't like wearing two rings so they have one combined ring or just have the groom put the engagement ring on the bride again and the groom gets a band.

The only time I've seen people wearing two different bands is when a couple started out with a plain band and upgraded to a more expensive one on a later anniversary but for some reason the bride still wears the older plain one.

Another wedding question: This may be stupid, but what is the deal with 2 wedding rings. I usually see older women with them. One is usually plain, the other with a diamond...I guess like a set. Is this traditional? Is it necessary? Does it symbolize something?

I think stardustwin is right....this sounds like an anniversary band. Typically with 3 stones (for past, present and future as dubbed by the diamond mafia better known as DeBeers) or with diamonds all around, it is a popular gift at major anniversaries. The plain one is probably the original band.

Of course there are some people like me who wear 2 binds for style reasons. I have a very inexpensive wedding band (plain gold, thin. I thinkt hey were about $25 bucks each on sale) on either side of my engagement ring. At first glance it looks like 1 large band with ridges.

2. Are the formalities necessary (asking bride's fathers for permission, news paper article, announcements etc.)
3. Diamond engagement rings

1. Age is irrelevant...I actually envy young people to a certain degree who are married and have children "out of the way" ...the kids will be out of the house by the time they are 40 or so..then its P-A-R-T-Y time..Who God has for you is for you..and when you meet that person is irrelevant..
2. Asking my father is ABSOLUTELY necessary...and its also necessary that my heavenly father has been sought about this person as well ;) Of course this depends on the relationship the woman has with her father...but I wish a brother would propose ot me without going to God..then my Father...thats OOOut of order... the other formalities are irrelevant to me...
3. I'm not into rings..AT ALL...Im not a flashy person...I'm into a brother's relationship with God....I actually wouldn't mind a proposal without a ring... yea i know..i'm a little different than the average woman :D ;)
