It's still on the schedule...why call it Skit and do something else? Odd.

Hartofsec 08-09-2015 11:39 AM

I think Skit Day has been replaced with Sisterhood Day.

It is my (limited) understanding that due to National Panhellenic's ongoing concerns regarding the relevance of skits to sisterhood, the time skits take away from conversation, and the potential that an aspect of a skit might offend a PNM, Skit Day is being phased out across the board.

How can an aspect of a skit offend a PNM?

Titchou 08-09-2015 11:46 AM

I understand the underlying thought. What I don't understand is Auburn calling it Skit Day when it's something else.

Have you seen a skit lately??? I'm offended by some parts of quite a few I've seen over the last 10 years.

I looked around for a schedule with the "new" Sisterhood round listed, but only found it on the "What to Wear" page (scroll):

No! That's why I want to know.

They aren't doing Little Mermaid and Grease - think Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Lopez and Snoop Dog...

Content, caricatures, songs -- even inadvertent -- I guess people can be offended easily these days and NPC is tired of policing it.

As I understand, Sisterhood Day (or equivalent) will be coming to Bama next year to replace Skit Day.

Perhaps they need a better "editor".......

I like the idea of Sisterhood Day rather than Skit Day. It's a great way for the girls to show off their individual chapters. I'd love to see what they come up with. Video? Slideshow?

I can't say that the prospect of another video or slideshow is very exciting to me -- I liked Skit Day! Not sure how much notice the chapters at Auburn received regarding the change -- they may be sorta flying by the seat of their pants this year.

It seems to me that Sisterhood Day would be synonymous with the purpose of Pref. I think that the various campus Panhellenic Councils and chapters probably need to collaborate with other schools -- where the recruitment parties have already been reorganized -- and find out what is working.

I think increasing conversation and decreasing the cutesy can only be good.
