Personally I don't listen to country, but a favorite of two of my sisters' is "Devil Went Down To Georgia". Of course they love this song since they're FROM Georgia LOL.

As far as a tape, it all depends if you want current or classic.
Classic, we can't forget
"Proud to be an Okie from Muskogee" "Friends in Low Places"
"All My Rowdy Friends"
Some female
Stand By Your Man, Crazy, Dolly Partin anything

Now, you KNOW there is a distinction between Country and Western, Country Western, Progressive Country and Country Rock!!!
Take this from someone who has performed everywhere from Houston Opry House to dives in Hattisburg Miss... Believe me, I've learned!

Justamom,

You just listed some of my FAVORITES!! "Okie from Muskogee" is wonderful.

I also love Charlie Daniels' "Uneasy Rider". :) Do you know that one?

Oh, what about "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys," "Me and Paul," and "Luckenbach, Texas"??? :D

TEXAS- There is a site that sold/sells the CD from Kerville Folk Festival-Lots of really good music

DZRose-"Uneasy Rider"--Don't know it by the name, but if I heard it I might. I forgot about the others you mentioned. Do you like Willie Nelson? How about Kenny Rogers and "Lucille" We used to make up words like You picked a fine time to leave me you heel or loose heel on and on...

I LOVE most everything. When you're really down, you can always find the perfect "cryingin your beer" song and when you're up...well just look at the tunes already listed!!!

I TOTALLY LOVE THAT SONG!! Aw, some of my sisters and I were just listening to it the other night. Surprisingly, two of the girls in the car had never heard the song before!! How silly is that?!?! Anyhow, awesome song!!

--Another good one is Margaritaville. I do not think anyone mentioned that one.
--Pop A Top by Alan Jackson
--Streets of Bakersfield by Dwight Yoakum
--Family Tradition by Hank Williams, Jr.
--Carry On by Pat Green

Those are a few off the top of my head. Hope those helped!
