I've said this before, and I'll say it again.
I came from a smallish chapter (pledge class ~30). It was the chapter I wanted all the way through recruitment & I was overjoyed to get a bid there. Several of my friends also pledged there. HOWEVER, I did not really feel "home" there until recruitment as a sophomore. Hours of putting up decorations, moving through bump groups, cleaning the house, memorizing PNM names... that's what made me a sister of the wine and blue. Furthermore, a lot of my best friends in the house are the girls I recruited that year. Give it time. Recruit from the other side & get to know your current sisters & find girls you love & make them sisters! |
I also got my first choice, but did not feel like an integral part of the chapter until the following year. Getting ready for fall recruitment helps a lot with bonding.
And some of us just make friends more slowly. Some of my pledge sisters just blew into the chapter and were in the center of everything right away. It took me time to find the girls I would be closest to. Many of the chapter sisters I'm closest to (to this very morning interacting with on FB twenty years later!) were in pledge classes after mine. I eventually became a very integral part of the chapter, but it took time. Don't be so quick to throw away three years of fun and sisterhood over what might have been and what will never, ever be. Embrace what you have. So many girls would give their right arm to be in ANY sorority. |
