ENDROAD 01-19-2002 09:25 PM

Endroad,

I think you are trying to say that because the other groups were founded on days that happen to be before the 15th that they were trying to "one up" another organization. Hello, come on now..................... everyone knows that January 15th, 1908 came before January 13th, 1913.
.................................................. .................................................. .....

Virtuous,

That is exactly what I was trying to ask. I did not mean for it to seem like I was putting anyone down. I felt my question was really legitmate due to the way the Founder's dates are arranged ignoring the years. I do not use the phrase "One Up" but that is the way I see it. The orgs on my campus even seem to try and do this to each other all the time both sororities and fraternities.
Thank you for summarizing my intent.

To Everyone....

As for face to face interaction, I have had this conversation, but my personal friendships are very important to me and when I saw that the greeks I asked ALSO seemed to be uncomfortable with this topic I just dropped it to save bond.

Now I felt that I could receive an inpersonal answer here without hurt feelings. I guess I was wrong because one of the two PMs I did receive was just horrible.

It was recommended that I apologize. I am willing to do so on the grounds that I had hoped you all would not take it so harshly.

Therefore to the women of Delta Sigma Theta who took my post as an insult to yourselves personally or your organization, my apologies that was not my intent. :o

I know you may erase this but that will just reinterate my theory.

What the....?????   This makes no sense.

Why are you reading so much drama into this Endroad? Most of the responses on this board have been to a. correct you on your dates, or b. question what exactly you are asking. I do not think that a request for you to clarify is hostile. I DO however think that your theory is a bit of a stretch.

Oh wait no, I'm forgetting the responses where people were expressing their amusement with this theory. Hardly complimentary, but not hostile either.

None of us was present in 1913 or in 1920 and I do not particularly feel that we can really sit here and guess the intentions of the founders of DST or ZPhiB. As all three org's were founded at Howard however, I do not think it is a stretch to assume that the deadline theory is perfectly valid.

As for the apparently hostile people who did IM you, you are sitting here in a rather brazen attempt at judging people's founders, what are you thinking is the response you will recieve? Why are you surprised?

Just out of curiosity, now to the founders of which of these organizations, exactly have you spoken? Since you are so confident there was some intentional malice done on the behalf of any of these orgs. No one of us could answer this question, as inane as it is, there is no 'answer' outside of it being coincidental.

MeezDiscreet 01-20-2002 09:21 PM

Thanks for the clarification. That makes EndRoad's theory all the more perplexing.

The orgs on my campus have made a point of celebrating Founder's Day and I felt this question was a relevant one for such reason.

It was brought to my attention in a private message that organizations have deadline dates o submit certain information. I was aware of this but was not aware that this was standard during the time of the creation of the Divine Nine orgs in the early 1900s.

As far as everyone getting their feathers all ruffled, well that just goes to show it may be more to it than you are willing to admit.

I think the responder's "feathers are ruffled" because we are struggling to find the logic in this proposed "maliciousness" amongst the organizations when they were founded in different years. And your second post has provided little clarification. I'm sure you're bent on reading what you want into the founding dates, so this seems to be pointless to me.

The final founding dates were based upon finalization of the articles of incorporation with the government, something that no one was in control of once the documents were submitted.

Can we nominate this for Silliest Thread for GC Oscars 2002....I just don't understand:confused: ;)
