Thank you for sharing that information with me; I have heard some of those myths before so that will be very helpful to know. I'm not saying that I'm not interested in understanding the process. I am going to do everything I can to make sure the girls in my group have a positive experience and end up in the perfect house for them. However I don't know everything about this position yet, as I just got it two days ago. Since I have 6 months to prepare, I'm sure I will be able to help the girls to the best of my ability when the time comes.

Do some reading. You will learn what you need to know.

You have plenty of time. Don't be surprised if your colleagues don't have a clue about a lot of this or even tell you you're wrong. As you know, there's a wealth of knowledge here! I will look forward to reading a rush thread about your girls.

Thank you guys for your help! This is a great place to talk about recruitment counselor tips. Let me know if you have any other information that helps. I will definitely keep you updated on the process and on the girls in my group (although I won't know who they are until over the summer).

I picked out my dress for the disaffiliation ceremony already so I might be jumping the gun on that, haha. But I'm just excited. Plus it gave me an excuse to buy a chevron dress.

Congratulations! I am a proud Alpha Gam today because of my recruitment counselor. When I thought my whole world had collapsed and was certain that not being invited back to "the one, the only one place that I belonged" meant that I should drop out of recruitment because sorority life just wasn't for me, she hugged me, let me cry for a few minutes and then put her hands on my shoulders and told me to wipe my tears and smack a smile on my face and go to the three Pref parties that I was invited to. I love that girl.
