Madeline, I went through recruitment last year and I got a ton of my recs from teachers at my high school. I made sure I had my resume and a photo all prepared and ready and then when I asked a teacher if she said she was in a sorority or referred me to another teacher, I was all ready to hand them everything they needed. Some of my teachers were not in sororities, but they had good friends or sisters who were and since they knew me from school they were willing to ask their friends to help. I don't really think it is all that hard but you do have to put yourself out there and get it done!

Thank you Confetticupcake!!!
I took Madeline's query about choosing the popular vs. the less popular chapters as a sort of bet hedging. In other words, I thought she was asking if it would it be a safer bet (yield more invitations) if she chose less sought after chapters-she would be willing to give up the possible invitations to "top" chapters if it was safer to list the "most desired" chapters lower on her list. It poses an interesting dynamic. And Madeline, if i did understand your question correctly, to hedge your bet so that you have the best chance of receiving a bid, you need to find recommendations for ALL the chapters-don't blow any of them off, whether they are most popular or less so. |
That is how I read her post, as well.
