That company (Phired Up) also has a lot of good resources for recruitment outside the traditional party structured recruitment. A lot of those resources answer some of your specific questions... I took your original question as a broad inquiry that does not necessarily delve into the private side of membership selection.
I would personally (not speaking for my sorority) want to see leadership potential, ambition yet humility, good listening skills, good speaking skills, and a general friendly demeanor. To me, that is part of "quality." But I love what others have said above about quantity sometimes driving quality. When women see your members being active around campus, they will be interested and want to see what you have going on. Good luck! |

NPC organizations don't "interview" PNMs except when forming colonies. Recruitment is probably just like yours. We have parties and members talk to the potential members and try to get information from them that determines if they meet selection criteria while having natural conversations. Deltabetababy gave you an idea of how you might proceed. If you do the survey of the chapter prior to the recruitment and know what traits in women you are looking for, you can devise a plan to weed out women that don't meet those criteria, ie. GPA lower than your goal, too many women that dance and not enough that sing so pick the ones you like best that can dance and recruit more than can sing, philanthropy interest- actually quantify it on a scale of some sort.) Make a point system or scale that helps you separate the PNMs in a way that it is easy to see which ones meet the criteria you set forth before recruitment otherwise you will just get bogged down in the "But I like her, too." To set your quota, look AT&T he number of your total members and decide REALISTICALLY how many NMs you can handle as a chapter. How many big sisters are available to cover them (if you do that). Once you pick that number, whittle down you recruitment numbers to meet that number. It's okay to give out a few more bids, but try not to go to far overboard (unless you have an issue with people turning bids down then I 'd say do a second wave of bids.)Hope this helps.
BTW, many Panhellenic recruitments require an application to participate that includes a resume with GPA and transcript so you get a lot of information ahead of time. If you don't have all of this, you end up needing to work harder to get all of that. |
I thought that in Canada first semester freshmen were not permitted to join at many universities...
Luchia, instead of all this posting on here you should probably private message one of the Canadian Greeks who has posted in your threads since there are restrictions in Canadian schools that don't exist in the US. |
