Why am I not excited? Frankly, I'm dreading it and fear I might need to be in a wine induced coma for the entire duration of recruitment. I'm doing the best I can to prepare her for the roller coaster of recruitment.
I went to lunch with a couple of ladies to talk about all things recruitment and I told them I'm worried and the one gal looks at me horrified and says "If your worried, what should I be?" There is something to the saying 'Ignorance is bliss'

Wine induced coma sounds really good! I am sure you can find company for that!

Best Wishes to your daughter, AXOrushadvisor. Please PM if you think I might be able to help in anyway, even if Ole Miss is not involved.

Same here - even if it isn't Alabama...

I'm so excited to read this thread. I can only imagine a rush advisor having her daughter go through rush is going to be on pins and needles. Might I suggest a constant alcohol drip?

KKGAlumDGMom 06-05-2013 10:23 PM

Good luck to your daughter (and you)!!!!!!

I am very excited to read her story!! Can you at least tell us if it is what people would consider a competitive school?

honeychile 06-05-2013 11:18 PM

How exciting! I hope your DD gets the bid of her choice!

Ladybugmom 06-06-2013 04:40 PM

Good Luck to your daughter!! It will be so intertesting to get your perspective since you are an advisor!! Im thinking a contant wine drip is the way to go and hopefully you have lots of friends to commiserate with who can drink with you:)!

Do you have a gut feeling where she will end up? Not asking you to name any group. Just wondering if you have any motherly instinct kicking in.

ladybug12 06-06-2013 07:31 PM

I predict a successful recruitment for this DD because she will be well-prepared to maximize her options and keep an open mind.

We Greek Chatters all look forward to your journey!

May I suggest a nice Pinot Noir I discovered in Napa last year????

gee_ess 06-06-2013 11:47 PM

Best of luck! We will be so excited to see where she ends up! Offering help at Arkansas...

AXOrushadvisor 06-07-2013 11:31 AM

I'm going to be very careful about which questions I answer. I really want her to have a good experience and she doesn't need her Mom screwing things up for her:eek:

Yes, I have some very good friends that can help me get through the week or talk me off the ledge.

Yes, pins and needles is right. Even though we have been talking about recruitment for years there is still a lot of emotion for any kid going through the process. She is prepared, but she also knows a lot about the behind the scenes process and is aware of how competitive it is. I have told her that I can get her to the first party but the rest of the work is up to her.

I do have a gut feeling on where she is going to end up. I always have gut feelings about recruitment so we will see if this one pans out.

Looking forward to sharing this journey with you. I too have the excel spreadsheet and tomorrow is packet send date to the women who have agreed to recommend my DD. Didn't want it to be too early or too late :)

I have also agree to mentor several of her classmates at numerous university. I expect a very busy year, absolute excitement!

Best wishes to you and your daughter.

Best wishes to GC relative PNMs! and best wishes to all PNMs, but especially the ones who we hear about as they move toward and into college life.
