I saw "Duel" on tv when I was just a kid, and that movie still scares me. I had nightmares about that movie for weeks.

With Charlton Heston? LOVE THAT MOVIE!! It's the same story that "I Am Legend" came from. The scary part is him being all alone in the city.

Book: Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. Actually put it outside in the back yard when I finished reading it, didn't want it in the house.

Movie: The Screaming Woman, a made for television movie, but you can find it on dvd. Had nightmares for decades after seeing it.

I NEVER watch horror movies, but one day, I watched The Strangers.

I thank God that my complex requires me to buzz people in because I'd NEVER answer the door.

How about Soylent Green? That really rocked my 8 year old psyche.

I was coming here to post about this movie specifically. I don't generally watch scary movies. Aside from not being entertained by most of them, I can't stand the bloody/gory aspect of many of them.

My ex LOVED scary movies, but after I almost passed out on our first date while watching Saw IV, he figured out that taking me to those types of movies wasn't a good idea. But he wanted to see The Strangers, and he heard from multiple people that there was no blood and guts, so I agreed to go.

I've never been more creeped out by a movie. He, a fan of the genre as a whole was disappointed, but I felt like there was someone creeping behind me for days after. Only that movie has ever had that effect on me.

Seven and The Shining are two of my favorite movies. They're pretty creepy, but they never had the effect on me that The Strangers did.. and I frequently watch those movies late at night, when I'm at home by myself.

The Killing place by Tess Gerritsen (book) was so creepy. I had to read it all at once or I wouldn't have been able to sleep.

That's the only thing I can think of when I see these.

I would love to know if the developer of these was a fan of that movie or if they're completely clueless.

Any book by Graham Masterson. Scary ass shit.

Oh, and I know it's stupid, but Blair Witch scared the hell outta me. Still does. I hike in the woods a lot, often solo. I've I'm not absorbed in my hiking or birdwatching, I'll get the shivers if I think of Blair Witch.

And The Ring scared the hell out of me too.

Yep, the birth scene was really gross. I actually thought that movie was more disgusting than scary.

greekdee 03-02-2013 09:29 PM

The movie "The Ring" got me. I could not bring myself to watch the sequel. The book "Carrie" not so much...but the movie's ending with the hand coming out of the grave? I've seen it numerous times and am never ready for that part. "Another Stephen King movie that scared me to no end...Children of the Corn.

Back in the 70's, there was a B-movie (I saw it at the drive-in) called "The Children"...their school bus drove through some eerie green fog, and the children came out as killers. They would hug people and it was the equivalent of having acid dumped on you. They lived in their bus and it was just creepy stuff.

Movie: The Night of the Living Dead. Saw that as a child and ever since then, do not care for zombies. Haha

Book: The "Scary Stories" book series. I read those at night in the sixth grade and I'm still scared of them. But I do want to reread them so I'm not sure what that says about me...
