They've done that in the past. I was surprised they let him continue, but maybe the crazy look in his eye added to the drama.

No kidding! I loved as he was walking away saying... "no regrets..." Yeah, whatever.

I'm sure that was it - and it made for good TV, so the producers kept rolling...

Yeah, and it's not like he was unrolling huge bales of hay for hours!

Surfer boy sure was serene about the whole thing. Surfer girl, not so much.

And yay for Connor's dad, who didn't cry (much) last night.

I think it's different than getting voted off with an idol in your pocket, unless someone told you straight out that your name is on the short list for TC. Usually when that happens, they think they are with the group but they're not. These two knew they were down to two.

He did seem crazed and I'll chalk it up to exhaustion.

There will be some road blocks that the Dad can do .. the eating challenges, the "find something" challenges, maybe even swimming challenges. That leg was four days so he's had the aircast/brace thing on for four days. It will probably improve a lot over the next few days, unless he injures it again or something.

Drat. I really was hoping to see Max and Katie gone.

My thoughts exactly.

Yep.

Any thoughts on the controversy addressed at the show's opening this past week? I did raise an eyebrow at the whole "We Love Communism" song and the B-52 memorial when I saw it...not surprised VFW was pissed off.

I suppose I can see how it bothered some people, but neither raised my eyebrows. I'm old enough to remember Vietnam well, though not old enough to have fought there, and I had no immediate family there. To be honest, when I saw the statement at the beginning, I had to think a minute to try to figure out what parts of the previous show they were talking about.

With the B-52, I was sort of felt it is what it is; it's part of the history of Vietnam. Frankly, the song struck me as something to cause eye rolls and incredulous chuckles more than raised eyebrows.

I wasn't necessarily bothered by either, but I knew others would be. I'm sure there were some people who were pissed they were in Vietnam at all, even though it's the second or third time the show has been there. It was the combination of the pro-communism and downed B-52 that I think was risky...it made it seem like producers were trying to rub a Vietnam "victory" in the American viewers' faces. It just seemed like a missed opportunity to me for TAR to show some of the peaceful American-Vietnamese progress after the war.

Ugh, I stopped recording the show that comes on after TAR when football season ended. Now I only have 19 minutes of tonight's episode. Ugh.

About time.

I always cringe when one member of a team spends the whole time berating the other one. A true team finds ways to support each other and help each other get through it, not demean their partner and make them feel even worse about the challenges they have.

...which makes the Wolverine allegiance all the more puzzling, in addition to tragic. :)

Whew for the hockey boys. I was worried there for a while.

And haggis and bagpipes next week! I'm so ready.

AGDee 05-04-2013 11:40 PM

I just watched Sunday's episode (rough week). I missed your previous comment MC, but when the haggis poet started reciting, I definitely thought about you and the sushi vs. haggis comments in the WIFLSRN thread.
