I have a Fossil - I've had it for over four years, and it's worked perfectly the whole time - everyone I know of who has had Fossils has been happy with them. They're not overly expensive, and as long as you're not careless with them, they last. After some of the Kappa Sig events this watch has been through, I'm seriously impressed.

My current watch right now is a light blue Swatch :)...unfortunately, the strap is starting to crack. But I love the swatch designs, I guess I just have to change the straps periodically--or at least get one of those "irony" models with the leather straps. Anyway, I got it at Carson Pirie Scott, so I'm assuming the other department stores still carry a few today.

My seiko "perpetual" watch ($430) got stolen out of my dorm room my frosh year, so now I just keep the timex atlantis with my kavu wristband (combined total: $60..little dif)

Killarney, I know the watch you are talking about and it is really cute but I think it is going to be one of those trendy items that nobody wears in a year or two. Just like those super expensive diver's watches in the candy colors, I forget who makes them. Go for something classic. I bought Brent a Submariner for his 30th birthday and he has never taken it off. I'd like to get the one with the blue stone face and the diamonds around the bezel, or there is one with the Rolex logo face I like too in mother-of-pearl.
I had Swatches in every color. I even had the old original pink one that smelled like strawberries or something..... |
There is a Movado that has a black-brown luster face that I almost broke down a bought last year, but had horror visions of losing it the very next day (that happened to a Guess watch I purchased back in high school).
I was looking for function instead of form anyway to replace my old watch. I was looking for a funtioning chronograph that was appropriate for business and designed for a woman's wrist, all within my price range. Boy, was that like pulling teeth. :D I finally stumbled across one by Skagen. I enjoy my watch and get many compliments, especially from men. The fact that it was inexpensive makes it all the more sweeter. One of the few things it's lacking is Swiss movement (uses Japanese), but I've had for a year and haven't had it slip a minute yet. I still have my eye on that black/brown luster Movado though! :) |
Ok, these watches like the ones someone posted at http://www.technomarine.com/boutique/idxdiamond.html
they are cute...but $2040.00?? give me a break! They arent THAT cute...and I do agree, they have trend and fad written all over them. Minus the diamonds, the bands remind me of those little 12 dollar cheapo wal-mart watches you can buy and it comes with like 6 different bands...they also look very "young" and to me would have limited use - because I dont wear anything day to day that is THAT casual. Im all about stainless and white metal. Goes with everything from casual to semi-dressy :) |
