I did a search on badges for sale and I noticed that she had won an auction for a ZTA badge. If I'm not mistaken (I'll doublecheck on this) she also won an auction for a ADPi badge too. I'm pretty sure she's NOT a Kappa...just a perp.

aopirose, I couldn't agree with you more. When I see a badge on ebay, I email our headquarters, along with those who I know buy them, and headquarters forwards the email to any potential buyers. It hasn't worked wonders, but when a badge goes for $621, what can you do?

Another idea, call your fellow sisters, pool your cash together and bid. Then, send the pin to nationals, get reimbursed, and now you've saved a pin!

OTW, I think we have the same person in mind. She has bought a zeta badge, and she's currently bidding on KKG, Tri-Sigma, and Chi omega Badges that I know of. I know there are a lot of chi omegas here, so I just wanted to give you a heads up. Good luck. I think it's a shame such a treasured piece of history could end up in the hands of someone who has no clue what it means to all the sisters out there. Plus, she's just rude. I'm done ranting now. Good luck trying to get your badges back.

For Alpha Phi Omega, I don't know of anyone who goes that far to "rescue" pins. Part of that is that the pins that brothers get pinned on them at inititation is *very* plain. It is the same size and shape as the pledge pin (different markings) and is sold by the National Office for $4.

Since we are have a heavy scouting heritage, I can easily imagine an Alpha PHi Omega pin as part of a scouting collection for a non-brother. I guess I'm OK with that as long as they don't try to represent themselves as a brother.

I have a question about this, that is on a different note. I lost my pin and want another one. There is one that is very old and not made anymore, (or was) on Ebay. If I buy it, is it ok to keep it as my own? Or, should I get in touch with my national and get permission to wear it, before I buy it? I can always order a new one through the national office, but I really like the one that is for sale. I don't want other people wearing our pin, but I'm a member. I still don't know if it is right. I know that the national office can tell me, but what is your opinions on this?

PT2, if you are a member of the Greek Org. I would see NO problem! I have bid on our Badges and then E-M the othere bidders to see if they are my Brothers. When they are, I drop like a hot rock and wish them good luck. I have in turn had the same from my Brothers when it was something I really wanted!

If My Badge went on e-bay, I would make a fortune, but My Badge is going to the House to be past down!

I think if you are going to wear it and putting up your own $$$ (especially if you don't have pots of it) it is perfectly fine. I think it would be better for someone who wants it and loves it to wear it and get rid of whatever "bad karma" that made the old owner get rid of it so capriciously, rather than have it sit in a bin at nationals.
