She has a beautiful strand of pearls that she received for graduation...that's her style...simple and classic, and this would be for January recruitment. So, a dark color would probably be more appropriate.

What about this dress (last one for tonight, I promise!). She ordered it as a party dress, but could it work for pref?

Anyone have an opinion on this dress? I got a size bigger, so it isn't tight and it is about knee length on me.

Are you talking about that red, embroidered thing? It's cute but way too casual for recruitment.

This dress reminds me of the girls in the Robert Palmer "Addicted to Love" video... not a great look.

ETA: Anything that says MESH is probably not recruitment appropriate.

Did a black and white dress not show up? That's what it was supposed to be :/

I'm seeing a black and white color block dress with "mesh" inserts.

If this is the right link, I think it's too short, and it has an "athletic" look to it, with the mesh and the general style. I don't think it's a good match for pref. also, I'm not sure what the quality would be like for $20...I think I'd try to splurge a little for recruitment time.

Thanks for the input, I'll keep looking! :)

Can we talk about how these things on the hips, peplums I think they're called, make this woman look like she's about to be beamed up into another dimension?

From the back it looks like something you'd see on the SS Enterprise.

How is that dress so much longer than her fingertips???

You need to keep looking. Mesh--not recruitment appropriate. It also says something about semi-sheer? As a general rule, anything that inexpensive will not be the look that you want (polished) for recruitment (barring an incredible sale). Look at your university's website to see if ou can find pictures of last year's recruitment to get a idea of the look that you want.

Thanks for the advice, KD4Me.

What about this? Any ideas for accessories (if it would be considered appropriate)?

Yup. Pair it with a colored belt/shoes, or even metallic. You can get pretty flashy with your accessories with a dress that simple, and that can help sorority women remember you (oh yes, sarajean had the green shoes or the cool necklace or the gold belt).

Too lazy to multi quote.

Her elbows are bent. If they were straight, it wouldn't be.

That's very pretty. MUCH better than the mesh dress. You can continue wearing this after college.

I think there are some really pretty dresses on the Ann Taylor site...some of them are definitely "bridesmaidy", but they're all tasteful.

I was on my phone. It doesn't always go to links correctly. :(

That's a classic dress that will last for more than one season. However, the website says "due to overwhelming popularity, this dress is sold out". Bummer.
