Regarding the length of shorts: If they are so short you can see the pockets out of the bottom, they are TOO SHORT! I don't care how old you are. That is a BAD look!

Shorts pockets

Haha, shorts pockets showing is actually very in style right now. They've made the pockets longer just so that you can see them.

It still looks too trashy for rush. There may have been times when bustiers were in fashion too, but you don't wear those for rush either.

The problem with these shorts isn't necessarily how short they are. The problem is that they are cut offs (either by the designer or the wearer). A very short short that is finished nicely...with nice legs....is, in these parts quite acceptable.

I've known several women who wore capris with their recruitment T-shirts on that day.

How times have changed. Cut off Levi's were all the rage in my day, but we were strictly forbidden to wear them outside the sorority house. Ours were nowhere near that short either.

A cute little flippy skirt can go well with a t-shirt too and have some built in air-conditioning. Tight is hot, so one more reason to go a little longer and a little looser.

A short culotte style skirt has all the properties of short short (or shorter shorts) with a looser fit. Daughters got a few this season at Zara, Bloomingdales and Saks. Advantages: forgiving in the hip area and you don't have worry about the sudden of a gust of wind.

Yeah I totally agree in Southern Cal a chic pair of fashion shorts is quite acceptable especially if you have the legs. Not to mention paired with a smart blouse or even a blazer

Of course fashion shorts are a whole different look than denim cut offs

Can I tell you how much I love Zara?! Was in there last week with my dd and I kept saying "this would be good for recruitment" We are not there yet. Still have another year and she needs to figure out where she will go! She did ask me if I would stay with her while she went through recruitment- ha! NO.

Thanks for the reminder, carnation. Time to get out my favorite pair of bloomers and rock someone's world. :p

I had never heard of Zara so I looked up their site online. The clothes are cute but all I could think about was how much their model really needs a cheeseburger.

I will tell you the clothing does run small. My six foot trim daughter wears a large there (she is a women's medium most places) and I am a (tall in most circles except for my own home were I am the only one under 6') old women hitting 50 and wear a small/medium most places but a medium/large there:)

The clothing is so very cute and easy on the wallet especially when there is a sale. BTW, I LOVE a good cheeseburger:)!!
