I just wanted to know steps to take in looking into opening a new chapter on campus. But a few of the responses have helped me decide against it-it's a lot more in depth than I have figured. And I thank everyone for opening my eyes to that.

And no I didn't think I "signed a lease", I just don't want to be a part of this anymore.

Kappa is a fabulous sorority. I regret turning it down everyday, but other things were influencing my final decision (not quite making it for me but definitely ruining it for me-especially problems at home) It had nothing to do with the sorority at all. I love the girls I know who are in Kappa and I thoroughly respect them. They are wonderful people.

Not asking for sympathy-just asking to be deleted from GC.

Kappa is a fabulous sorority. I regret turning it down everyday, but my parents were not thrilled with the idea at the time since I took on a heavy load academically and other things were going on at home. It had nothing to do with the sorority at all. I love the girls I know who are in Kappa and I thoroughly respect them they are wonderful people.

If you really want to "disappear" from GC, stop responding to people in this thread. And if you want to join a sorority, your best bet is to go through recruitment again. But keep in mind, there's no guarantee that you'll get a bid again.

You might consider taking more responsibility for your actions... start with removing yourself instead of asking someone else to do it for you. You are in college, so I assume that you have some computer skills.

It is not impossible for people to start new chapters, but in the time frame that most people are in undergrad, for them to be active in the new chapters, it is unrealistic. This is why it is often discouraged.

You went through recruitment once and received a bid. I don't know your class standing (sophomore, junior, etc.) but if you would like to try recruitment again, this would probably be your best bet to being in a sorority. Keep in mind it will probably be harder this time. Why? Because sororities usually prefer freshman AND you declined a bid. I'm not saying Kappa will drop you because you declined their bid, but doing that definitely gives off the "I'm not interested" vibe, whether that's true or not. Give recruitment a shot if you want.

I don't know if you can delete your username (unless they ban you, which they wouldn't because you haven't done anything wrong). They can lock this thread, but again there's not much that's terribly offensive in it. I would just stop posting if you choose or if you have a different question/discussion you can go ahead with that.
