My Tri Sigma chapter uses the butterfly, symbolizing eternal friendship.
The ZTA's here have the strawberries and bunnies. It's funny, the first significant snowfall of the year, they do "Snow Bunnies" where they go outside in nothing but bathing suits and rabbit ears. Since it's a small college, like half the campus shows up to see it. It's fun to watch, but I'm glad I'm not out there freezing like that! |

The pengys are from back when they were still local - that was their local sorority's mascot. (Yes, I am old enough to remember that) This was before TPA was on campus and DPE had penguins EVERYWHERE. |

D Phi E was Alpha Beta Tau
Theta Phi Alpha was Delta Chi little sisters, then formed the sorority Lambda Zeta Tau. See, you are not the only one with a surplus of Clarion info :D |
When my local sorority became a chapter of AEPhi, we had to give up most of our local symbols. We did keep our local philanthropy, though - the General Israel Orphans' Home for Girls. We generally split the money we earned from fundraisers between the home and Chaim Sheba Medical Center (AEPhi's national philanthropy).

mascots...
Phi Beta doesn't have an official mascot. I know our Beta Zeta chapter in Boston uses the alligator (it's fun to say "Beta Zeta Gators!)
My old chapter voted last year to use the Penguin as their local mascot. There's also this giant stuffed snake that gets passed down every year to members. It has a name I can't reveal, but the new members all get to go find it during pledging. Sort of an unofficial local mascot. One more interesting thing, our national flower is the American Beauty rose, which is red. However, most of the chapters have used the yellow rose for years. We gues it's because our colors are violet and gold, so you can tie a purple ribbon around a yellow rose, and there you are! :D |
My ZTA chapter uses the white tiger.
SH80er, what chapter were you a ZTA at? |
I'm a Phi Sigma Sigma from Eastern Michigan University and of course our National Mascot is the Sphinx. But our local mascot is the Panda Bear!!! And we have our local house pet, which is one of those Japanese fighting fish named Dio!!

As a sister at angelphi sig's Tau Beta Sigma chapter i would just like to correct her...our local flower is the white lily with purple trim, and our mascot is just the butterfly no special kind....

Perhaps AngelPhiSig made a mistake when she mentioned the monarch butterfly instead of just "butterfly" in general, and maybe she knew the exact color of your local flower but just chose not to go into specific detail. At any rate, I would be upset if one of my sisters had been so critical of something I posted. Just something to think about. :) |
dzrose...i took out the mean part, but my friend brought up a good point... what would your sisters do if you didn't know the baisic information of your chapter? this is something that should be known, our kappa (kkpsi) chapter even knows it exactly for what it is, and thats sad when a sister dosn't know it but our brother's do....

I asked Sh80er where she was a ZTA, and she PM'ed me and said it was at the Theta Kappa chapter, at the University of Missouri at St. Louis. |
