Regarding the collegiate members and recommendations, some sororities allow it; some don't. And the girls may not even know their sororities' policies. I'd go ahead and ask them for a recommendation, but get your backup recommendations from alumnae as well. If you are returning to the well, so to speak, with alumnae who wrote you recommendations last year, make sure they understand why you dropped last year. They don't want to put their reputations on the line a second time for a flake.

Your gpa is fine. It's not extraordinary...but fine. As for recs, ask your friends. The worst thing that can happen is that they can't write one, they don't know any recently graduated seniors and/or ........

Good luck!

If you rush, you might get a bid.

If you don't rush, you won't get a bid.

My suggestion? YOU DECIDE.

Hahaha very wise, and I realize that what you say is true. However, I'd rather not go through that kind of disappointment if I know my chances are like 20% of getting a bid ANYWHERE. I'm probably going to do it anyway, but I'd rather go into it knowing what my chances are. So, I guess that is my question. When I go into it, should i EXPECT to have extremely limited options?

Thank you.

We keep saying it... believe it. WE JUST DON'T KNOW!

I think you should go for it!

I would love to be in a sorority, but I'm going to be a senior in Fall 2012. Should I rush? What are my chances of getting a bid?

You might try doing a google search using the terms "greekchat+senior+bid" or something along those lines. The search engine here isn't always the fastest way to pull up what you want.

Are you going to be at USC?

Please take this kindly: we have no idea on earth what your chances are of getting a bid. None whatsoever. Honestly. Swear. Totally. We. Don't. Know.

Thanks for your quick response AzTheta!
Yes, I will be a senior at USC. I have been here since freshman year, but didn't rush at the time due to personal reasons.
I know people won't know my exact chances, but I guess I meant my chances as senior. Do sororities take seniors at all?

She just answered your question.

Some groups allow collegiate recs and some don't. In order to be sure, I'd get them all from alumnae -that way youknow they are all acceptable.

I can only think of one case where a senior got a bid. She was an exceptional woman. She was a Song Girl, was very involved in Student Government, as well as community outreach it was either JEP or Troy Camp....not sure which.

So unless you have an incredibly outstanding resume you may be disheartened when it comes to recruitment.

But at the end of the day, none of us can tell you exactly what your chances are.
