"Polk County Po-lice Department"

Gee, they pronounce in Ohio like we do in Polk County, Ga!;)

I'm happy she was found safe but I'm not buying the abduction part at all.

Sounds to me from carnation's link that she may have had some sort of breakdown.

Regardless of what "inquiring minds" want to know... the main story remains that she has been found. I'm sure we will never know all of the details.

I think it's telling that the parents are the ones claiming abduction, not Megan herself. Like I said...when you deactivate your FB it means you want to disappear. It's hard when you feel people don't trust you enough that you can say "I'm going to disappear for a long weekend" and have it be OK.

Like I said, it's great that she is home and safe. However, she used tons of public financial/law enforcement resources to hunt for her and had many people concerned and volunteering their time to help. Now the story the family is putting out there is leaving people in the area where she was found believing that there might be someone abducting and doing heaven knows what to women out there. While I don't think any of us needs to know the details, I do think the public needs to know whether or not there was a kidnapping. Tall tales do a disservice to those who really are missing.

It is great that she was found but she is 22 and it is often (not always) the case that college students and grown adults who go missing for even a couple of weeks are not kidnapped but instead running off to "do whatever they do" (often with a romantic partner) or having an emotional breakdown.

It is unfortunate that she would disappear for 2 weeks like that even if she is grown and able to do so. I am much older than she is but I am sure my family would panic if they did not hear from me for 2 weeks. However, I would have no reason to disappear like that. I do not need to "disappear" in order to spend 2 weeks with my significant other or go on a 2 week BOOMCHICKAWOWOWOW vacation in Jamaica. Just tell my peoples that I will be doing the grown folks thing for a couple of weeks. Holla if ya hear me.

At any rate, there never was enough of a hint of "foul play" for Nancy Grace to talk about it on her show -- even though this young woman was initiated at the very same chapter as Ms. Grace.

I agree with the bold text. It hasn't been all that long ago that there was a runaway bride in Georgia who claimed abduction when she really ran away.

And, as you note, draw on public resources unnecessarily.

I thought it was interesting that after the first day or so the parents stopped mentioning she'd just gotten home from four months in rehab. Maybe they thought she'd look less sympathetic?
