The issue with the University of Arizona and expansion remains, as I've previously shared, one of no available space for a facility. Space is at a premium on campus, and housing for all students is difficult to come by. The general concensus of the group at the meeting: it simply isn't possible for a single unhoused chapter to compete successfully with 11 housed chapters. We were told at our advisors' meeting that the lot that was available in 2009 is no longer available. If Panhellenic opens for expansion, there would have to be some creative planning and programming to make unhoused chapters attractive to pnms, and competitive with housed chapters. If fewer pnms go through recruitment, we won't have "monster" new member classes. However, that's not been the trend the past several years. As for AXO, I don't have any "inside information". It's my understanding that the agreement was that the earliest return would be 2013. AXORushAdvisor may have something to say; she can also answer your question about Sigma Kappa at ASU. best, AzTheta |
AZ Theta I just sent you a private message.
I know there has been a lot of talk about AXO coming back on at UofA, but I don't believe a formal announcement has been made. Sigma Kappa is scheduled to colonize this spring. I haven't heard any details yet, but I do know they are being included in all things recruitment for Fall of 2012. I met the consultant during formal recruitment this fall and they appear to be doing their homework. I'm just hoping they have a strong colonization and get up to speed quickly. |
