Yes, but that takes a lot longer and this day & age's overscheduled kids don't have the time. I'm not a fan of nanny state ishness either, but I have to say this is overdue.

Oh, I dunno. The kids can lay out in the sun with their study materials or a good book - or, more likely, a Wi-Fi enabled laptop or iPad that they can use to waste time on Facebook while catching some rays.

Back in my day, if you wanted to bronze up your skin, you walked outside and laid down. And you didn't have an iPod tan line when you got up. #oldskool
