The one I always use that I almost got busted for was, "I'm just visiting. I'm actually leaving town TOMMORROW." I use this most often when I go to bars and stuff, but one time I got busted. I was in Washington D.C. doing this internship this summer and went to this party. This one guy talked to me forever and wouldn't shut up. Finally he asked me for my number, and I used my line. The next week I ran into him in Georgetown. I swear it must be the smallest city ever.

"I don't go on dates with woman I haven't had sex with"

"I have a boyfriend" although this one doesn't always work. Some guys just don't care.

I've used I'm a lesbian once. This guy was really creepy and it was the first thing that came to mind.

While I'm engaged, so it hasn't been an issue, but what I used to use was:

"I'm terribly flattered, but I'm not dating just now."

a guy i worked with was telling me about time he turned down a date with a girl by telling her he was rearranging his sock drawer that night... and he said this with a straight face as well...

I usually just tell the guy that my parents don't allow me to date yet...you'd be surprised at how many dorks actually believe this one...:D

I have also told guys that ask me for my number that I don't have a phone...and they usually either believe me or they take the hint that I'm definitely not interested. ;)

"I've got a boyfriend"
"I'm from out of town and leaving <insert near day here>"

or sometimes I will combine the two: "I'm from out of town visiting my boyfriend and leaving tomorrow"

"I really can't talk right now I'm late for a group project meeting (or work or..)" and run away

hehehe

XOMichelle 04-26-2004 07:13 PM

I just say,"Thank you for asking, but I am not interested"

That generally works, and guys generally get the very direct, "No".

However, in Spain, when this guy wouldn't leave me alone, I chased him out of the club. I don't think he had ever had a girl try to beat him up before.

My reply lately has been "I don't have the time or energy to deal with all the BS involved in dating"

And, it's the truth!

This happened to a guy I knew in college... he asked a girl out and she turned him down by saying, "I'm sorry, but I don't feel like being social this semester."

Poor guy...
