I was a junior at CSUN...
.... and I went through recruitment. CSUN is a commuter campus and it can be very hard to befriend many people within the campus as most of them will be getting in their cars and driving back home at the end of class. Majority of greek students live in and around campus. It really is a fun experience to go through. I went through recruitment as a junior and it really shaped my college experience.
Like all schools, CSUN is notorious for their "tent talk". My advice to you is to go into it without listening to other's opinions about different houses. at the end of recruitment, you will really see that being a part of a house is much better than flying solo--at least at this campus it is. Doesn't matter which house it is. Each house has a "Britney", each house has the "Smart guru", etc. Each house is diverse as the next. So If I were you (which I was a couple of years ago :) ) go through recruitment. You won't regret it.
Because CSUN is a small campus, many things (like homecoming queen, Student body president, etc) are all composed of greeks. It can really shape your college life in a very positive way :)
