I had the same concern eightisgreat as my daughter got a Tiffany Key for graduation. We decided for her not to wear it...didn't want to send the wrong message..

Personally, I think the silver one would be fine for the first day if she really really wants to wear one, and I'd stay away from the gold all together. It would probably be best to avoid it, though. Keys are pretty popular so if I saw it on someone during round one I probably wouldn't think too much of it other than "oh, that's pretty". Later in the game though, once she's familiar with all the sororities and their symbols, it may come off the wrong way. Actually, it would almost certainly come off the wrong way. Honestly it's best to stick to non-symbols. Pearls, simple necklaces, anything other than any chapter's symbol.

I would say, NO.
Chapters read all sorts of stuff into PNM behavior - real or imagined - and the PNM pays for this every time. |
I agree with gee_ess on this one. Even if there are no intentions behind the jewelry, someone no doubt will read into it. I know girls who wore certain colored dresses on pref because that was the house they wanted, so it would definitely register to an active even if it is just a small piece of jewelry. It'd be unfortunate for a chapter/s to think she came into recruitment already decided and cut her, when that is not the case. Better to be safe than sorry. She could always wear the necklace on bid day.
