Toothpicks or dental floss!
Maybe an iPod/mp3 player for in between rounds? Good for drowning out the tent talk!
Cigarettes. A lighter. A flask of Jim Beam. I'm kidding!
Deodorant/antiperspirant
Maybe a mini Evian water spray? I ditto the battery-operated fan, but make sure to test them out ahead of time! Some of those things will frustrate you more than cool you off.

FROSTY TOWELS - they are amazing! I used them at Disney this June. It would be great if Panhellenics gave them out. They are slightly smaller than a standard washcloth, don't require refrigeration, and are SO refreshing. http://www.frostytowels.com/

Same with my daughter. The Gamma chis handed out the baggies at the initial meeting and they were only allowed to take what would fit, nothing more. |
Can someone tell me why they are limited to a clear ziplock bag? We could have anything we wanted when I rushed, what's the reasoning?
I always thought it had to do with Panhellenic not wanting girls to be lugging around big bags/totes/purses that the Rho Chis have to babysit/be responsible for while the girls are at parties.
Some of the reasons I have heard (other than the liability of keeping up with personal belongings like KSUViolet mentioned) are that girls sneak in cell phones and communicate with the 'outside world' during parties.
For my recruitment, we weren't allowed to have anything with us when visiting sororities or between rounds. Our stuff was locked in a room/supervised by Gamma Chis, so you only brought the minimum- Phone, Room key and ID, and they stayed there for the duration of your parties.
We got panhellenic issued pin-on nametags, and I hid some advil and bandaids in mine for pref :) But honestly I think it was better not to have all of that stuff to fuss with, by the end of the night nobody's hair was perfect and nobody cared. It was pointless to worry about your makeup, there was nothing you could do about it and mirrors were covered anyway. |
Checking out who has designer bags and who doesn't might also be a factor for not allowing them.

The mirror rule is kind of nice, it keeps you from obsessing over your hair/makeup. But I am a 24/7 watch wearer, and was kind of freaked out by not knowing what time it was. |

Also, make sure her mints are sugar free, sometimes ones with sugar can make your breath stink! The idea about the coffee filters is great too! |
