LOL @ BadCat25. Keep fighting the good fight. Maybe having a zombie bookclub or zombie movie nights will make your sisters recognize what's at stake. Or, they may kick you out of the sorority and try to commit you to an insane asylum. The "infected" absolutely love hospitals and insane asylums. Be careful!

The book makes them so explicitly vampires

Yeah they're undead, but they're specific undead!

The Feed/Deadline books have recently 'amplified' (as viral overload can occur post-mortem or kill the individual while alive) zombies can run but they lose that ability relatively quickly. They're also smarter the more of them are around. It's a great twist. *wills the obsession to expand to reading*

Ahhhhh, and therein lies the rub!

The movies depict them as vampire-esque but really just infected people who can be brought back because they are undead.

For the life of me (pun alert) I can't remember what movie(s) had the "smart zombies." It wasn't a particular good movie(s) but the director was making a point about humanity. I thought it was a Romero film...I don't know. The main zombie character was a Black zombie that was paying attention and learning stuff.

That movie is George Romero's "Land of the Dead." The smart zombie was "Big Daddy" played by Eugene Clark.

I was reading about hottie Simon Baker and remembered he was in that film. Such a frivolous way to recall a zombie film. George Romero, I have failed thee. :p

I had a zombie dream last night. It was odd. On the plus side I was surrounded by people who had guns, on the minus side I did not have a gun. Or a crowbar, or bat, or sword.

You are being shown the power of guns over crowbars. :)

I know I posted this in the "What do you feel like saying" thread, but it's more fitting here.

I started working out regularly again, and all this zombie talk makes me want to take part in an event like this:

I love jogging and this is an awesome idea for an event.

Buuuuuuut, it's creepy and nightmarish as hell. I think I'd pay for the spectator ticket and partake in entertainment and food while the participants ran for their lives. :)

I'm a fan of nightmarish things, so this would be right up my alley haha

LOL. I'm also a fan of nightmarish things but watching my favorite movies is different than "being in" my favorite movies.

:D Thanks for the link. It has been placed on my tentative schedule.

Zombie Survival Trainings

Just in case.

How did I miss this thread? I have a super fascination/love/fear of zombies. In fact, I am convinced that one day, zombies will walk the earth and humanity as a whole will be wiped out except for the survivors (of which I plan to be a part of). LOL! I'm a dork, I know.

Regarding crowbars vs. guns vs. knives. It's a tough decision for me. To use crowbars & knives would require one to get physically close to a zombie which I would flat out not want to do unless I had no choice. The problem with guns though is they are loud & attract more zombies thus forcing you to fun like hell & find a place to hide out (if you're lucky).

Best zombie movies that have scared the bejeezus out of me (or in somce cases, made me laugh hysterically):
28 Days Later
Dawn of the Dead (2004 remake)
Shaun of the Dead
Zombieland
The Walking Dead (not a movie but damn, I love this show).

Another zombie question that often arises in debates: What zombie is more frightening? The slow moving zombie or the crazy fast running zombies?

The fast moving zombie gets the adrenaline pumping while the slow zombie makes you mesmerized like WTF IS THIS!?!?!?!?!??!?!!? The slow moving can be beaten as long as there aren't a bunch of them. The fast moving can kick your butt with just one of them.

If life sucked so much that I absolutely had to choose a zombie to battle...the slow ones.
