30 years ago today, Nesta Robert "Bob" Marley (my boyfriend/husband/shawty in another life) passed away. Some found/find his death to be mysterious and "too convenient."

Whatever the case may be, I still listen to his music on a regular basis. I love all of his songs, even the stuff from the very beginning of his career.

"3 Little Birds" is my favorite Marley song (and it might be one of the best songs of all time - definitely makes the first cut) ... so of the ones unmentioned, I'll dig a little further back into the early Marley era for some favorites.

Sometimes we forget that Bob Marley and the Wailers weren't just the seminal reggae band - they also pioneered dub and ska, putting out some of the best mid-tempo stuff of the time:

Being an Alpha Gam I get to celebrate Bob quite a bit if I have on something more yellow than buff ;)

I enjoy Soul Shakedown and Hallelujah Time, as well as Put it on and Lively up Yourself.

I also have to give Bob a shout out because if it wasn't for his music I wouldn't have had a witty retort when Mormons asked me where I thought Zion was located. My answers were: Israel, a park in Utah, and a mountain Bob Marley Sings about.
