As long as I had a 2.0 I could be active, so I figured why knock myself out? :D

I'm going to be a little bit of a meanie here. Sorry.:

It annoys me when people blame the sorority for drops in their GPA. It is perfectly possible for you to have a 3.5 (for example) before joining and maintain said 3.5 afterward.

I mean, it's not a chapter's fault that someone doesn't manage their time well enough as a member to maintain their grades. It definitely can be done.

My GPA had a slight dip at one point (from a 3.7 to a 3.5) after I turned 21. This was while I was holding multiple chairs and being part of another time consming student org. I have never had a GPA lower than 3.6 so it bugged me. However, I wasn't immediately all "OMG Sigma is causing my grades to drop. Maybe I should quit!1"

I buckled down, skipped a couple nights of Ladies' Night/partying, went home immediately after chapter and did homework (instead of hanging around for after chapter for an hour, going home, getting on FB and rushing through my work), cut back on some optional events for a while and got them back up. No big deal/drama or saying I was going to quit.

Yes, it's time consuming. But a lot of things in life are going to be time consuming. It's all in how you manage. I just think that people are too quick to blame the sorority for grade issues instead of looking at how they are managing their time with sorority responsibilities.

They want us (GC) to say this to them -> "Please don't quit your chapter. The entire greek system at your school will completely fall apart if you leave!!! How can you leave. WE NEED YOU!!!!!"

 yeah, right.....

LOL. Some GCers have seemingly begged people not to quit before.

Okay, so this is when I ask what distinguishes one poster who creates a thread about dropping from another poster who creates a thread about dropping.

NPHC droppers tend to be told to go to hell regardless of their story.

But, for NPC it seems as though some people are met with compassion and empathy and others aren't. The latter is more amusing but I'm just curious. :D

That's why GC is so quiet lately. If only we were more receptive to NPHC aspirants and members who wanted to share. :(

For me, there are new members thinking about dropping (compassion), newly actives thinking about dropping (cautious compassion), then this jerk.

I can understand new members and newly-actives because the experience is pretty heady.

This jerk called her sisters "not women" and has been active for a while. She also tried to shame a group of us for scratching our heads at the way the media has covered the Natalee Holloway debacle, telling us we're not good greeks. Also, this is not the first time implying that her chapter has bid less-than-desireables.

Therefore, I choose not to show any compassion.

DrPhil 03-28-2011 01:55 PM

LOL. Oh yeah, that's the idiot from the strangely amusing Holloway thread.

I understand.

OP is starting to Speed-Delete. Unfortunately for her, most of her posts were QFP'd.

I'm not trying to delete my post, I was going to edit it for more details. It sounded rude, and I realize that, I'm sorry. I probably won't bother editing it anymore since I can tell people are upset and it's not gonna matter how I rephrase it. For the 'not women' comment, I dont LITERALLY mean that, I would describe what I mean but no matter how I do it I think it's gonna be attacked which I deserve because it was phrased rudely.

DrPhil, you must stop channeling/stay out of my iPod! It's really heavy on the Motown right now;every spring I seem to go right to the Temptations/Four Tops/Smokey Robinson/Impressions/Marvin Gaye/Sam Cooke tunes. Takes me to a happy place, instantly. Right now, here's what's on:

I ain't got time to think about money
Or what it can buy
And I ain't got time to sit down and wonder
What makes a birdie fly

And I don't have the time to think about
What makes a flower grow
And I've never given a second thought
To where the rivers flow

OK back to the topic...

We get that you weren't being literal about the women in your chapter not being women, but probably would have thought better about you and this comment if you DID come from a chapter of cross-dressers. At least they usually show more class than you have.
