OP, aren't you counting your chickens before they hatch as to being admitted to Alabama? These days, one cannot do that unless one's grandfather's name is etched upon a campus building.

OP, you do realize the top tier (and mid tier) groups at UA and Ole Miss do a lot of their recruitment during summer parties, right? You being from California and having no relatives in the area means if you want to be greek at those schools, you'll probably have to settle for bottom tier chapters. If that's not appealing to you, consider other schools.
