Wow, this thread seems to be lane-swerve central, but here I go again.

Based on what the OP said, it appears that she is in fact able to take that route but does not wish to for the reasons she detailed above. In my opinion, this is really more of a personal issue than anything.

It basically comes down to: in terms of actual membership, OP is fine but just doesn't feel like she deserves to not redo the new member process because she didn't use it to her fullest the first time around.

To be completely honest, I think this behavior is somewhat silly, but then again, since I'm not in her BGLO (in fact, not even in a BGLO), I wouldn't know what they expect out of their membership. I'd imagine the right thing to do is to just accept the circumstances as-is but start becoming more active.

You are already a member so you cannot go and be "reinitiated". No one knows how active you were before because you haven't been there. You have two options. One is to affiliate with the undergrad chapter. It's quite alright to say that you have been gone a while and not really been active. The other is to affiliate with a grad chapter now or when you finish. One thing that BGLO's strive for is lifetime commitment. So that means you should be welcomed back with open arms. It happens all the time. Just the other day we had two members come to a meeting. One hadn't been active in years, the other had moved with the mlitary so much she never settled to find a chapter. We welcomed her back in. Once you start going, you can attend rituals and bring in new members (after paying your dues of course) and in a sense you can regain that initial "bond". In no time I believe you will be back in the swing of things.:)
