Yeah, I do realize that some of these questions are kinda silly. However, they all have a reason behind them.
For example, the classwork one actually pertains to how strictly things are done; eg. are there usually rules to prevent that from happening in the first place? The housing one was there because I've always wondered if there is a panhellenic insidious enough to put all the RCs in a hotel (perhaps that's why the dues are so high!) or only choose those who don't live in the house/dorm. As for the purses: at my school, they were pretty much outside at all houses. There were a few in which I can't detect anybody watching, and nobody was watching from the windows. I actually tried my best to act suspicious by awkwardly staring at the purses for several seconds, and nobody made a peep (at least, not discretely). Then, there were houses in which the RC simply fell asleep right next to the purses. I actually verified that she was actually asleep, made a chuckle, and went on my business. I'm the type of person that likes to find holes in everything, so the purses really stood out. |

The school where I advise puts all the RCs and PH exec in a hotel. Recruitment registration fees pay for this sort of thing - not chapter dues to PH.

Back in the day, the Rho Chis were seriously separated. It seemed a secret phone call (on a phone with a cord, likely hooked to the wall) would happen regardless, but we're talking A or Two calls in a week. But really, the campus had 800 or so girls going through rush, so the Rho Chis wouldn't have the time to get involved in member selection battles, and vice versa.
With deferred recruitment these days, as well as 900 bazillion ways to communicate, I think all you can hope for is an idea of separation and not so much literally. |

And I guess our Panhellenic is insidious...but for us, only choosing those who don't live on the hall isn't possible because chapters are anywhere from 30-55 girls and the halls hold around 25. That leaves very little choice. Of course, our "hotel" is the campus hotel which costs $40 a night per room regularly (or did then at least) and we were getting a hefty discount IIRC, plus putting 2 girls to a room. So we only had 5 rooms for 4 nights. I don't know what they'd do without that campus hotel because I know there's no way thy Panhellenic could afford a real hotel. (Which is a shame, because the campus hotel is not appealing, let me tell you. I still went back to my apartment every morning to take showers in secret.) That's funny about the purses. We always had the girls throw them in a pile and then we'd proceed to talk and sit right by them but we DID highly encourage no one bring a purse so we didn't have many in the first place. And usually there was someone left in the meeting room we used at the beginning of each night so most of them that did bring a bag left it in there. I did let one girl carry around this huge bag that she really should have left behind because she always brought snacks to share and the entire group probably would have rebelled if we couldn't have those snacks in between parties. I carried a bag with breath mints, oil blotting sheets, safety pins, etc. and would put all the girls' wallets in my own bag if they would leave their purses back in the auditorium but didn't want to leave their wallets to cut down on reasons for them to carry their purses in the first place. |

I'll also wager that if the school is laid back enough that grad students get chosen to be Pi Chis, it's not going to be a major deal if the rushees do figure it out. |
