No NPC groups have anything that could be considered hazing in their procedures. Things that we did when I was in school that are now considered hazing have been deleted.

Therefore Im asking for helpful ideas..

You have no choice in whether it's a big deal to a chapter or not. That's up to the sororities and their private membership selection criteria. Some only give bids to 18 year old freshmen. There's nothing you can do to change their minds, which is why I gave you a plethora of "helpful ideas" in my earlier post. But somehow I feel like your definition of "helpful ideas" is some OMG SUPER SECRET FOR SURE WAY TO MAKE ALL THE SORORITIES WANT YOU NO MATTER WHAT THEIR MEMBERSHIP SELECTION CRITERIA ARE BECAUSE YOU ARE A SUPER SPECIAL UNIQUE AND PERFECT SNOWFLAKE WHO EVERYONE SHOULD WANT.

It's simple:

-Have good grades
-Get recs to every chapter
-Look good
-Be personable and someone girls want to hang out with
-Have special interests, extra curriculars, be involved and enthusiastic
-Don't let a bad reputation precede you.

Those things will give you the best chance of find a chapter that you like who also likes you and is willing to look beyond your age and class standing.

off on a tangent but:
if something is in the (inter)national sororities procedure (idk if the previously mentioned scenario is), would it still be considered hazing?

Unless DG was founded as a Junior Temperance Union, NWIH is this in international procedure.

And yes, there are things that used to be done and terms that used to be used that aren't anymore. I think some of these have way overcompensated and effed with the beauty and point of why they were done...but that's another thread.

OK, 33girl, it's early in the AM and I don't do caffeine so could you explain your reply re DG?

A DG posted the original "no drinking during pledgeship" post, so 33girl was saying that unless DG was originally a temperance league, there is no way in hell (NWIH) that the rule is a international policy.

Early morning translations are a free service.

quick question: I don't get the whole international thing here.. is it as in: goes for all chapters of XYZ no matter where they are? Or as in law?

SamanthaBay 11-29-2010 11:34 AM

Okay I get it about the age and recs, jeeze no need to be so uptight lady longhorn. I KNOW I HAVE NO CHOICE I CANT REWIND MY AGE. you were new to rush like I am not chill out. Its simple because you went through it. Im just asking how the process is, what to expect, and what to help me out. Im not asking for a bid to every sorority.

SamanthaBay 11-29-2010 11:35 AM

Well, here's a tip on the process. If you've posted enough information to identify who you are on a public forum, don't then turn around and be nasty to women who are in sororities.

SamanthaBay 11-29-2010 11:51 AM

See, I dont think any of you are getting where Im coming from. Im not meaning to come off as "nasty" or rude. Some posts seem to be rude to me, alright. Im simply asking for advice, this has turned into a forum about Recs and how i need them. I understand that. So dont talk to me like Im this incompetent person when all Im trying to do is get help from THOSE IN WOMEN IN SORORITIES, not get yelled at by them because I dont understand the process deltabetababy. Get it.

SamanthaBay 11-29-2010 11:52 AM

I havent heard anything about the process, fyi. just recs which is PART of the process.

They mean the "laws" (by whatever name they may be called -- laws, code, bylaws, regulations, policies, procedures) of an inter/national organization that apply to all chapters of that organization.

SamanthaBay 11-29-2010 11:55 AM

I only posted to get help, not to get talked to like an idiot. Excuse me for not being in a sorority sooner. I'll just read everyone elses forums instead of posting my own next time.

Well, it is national policy that all members - new members and initiated ones - abide by all local, state and federal laws. So that means no one under the legal age limit can drink - new member or not. So, yes, it is technically a rule that SOME new members cannot drink during their new member period because SOME new members are underage.

Wow isn't it a little early for the train-wrecky "ZOMG YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ME!!!!!!" threads? I mean recruitment is like, 9 months away.
