 LOL

The Knot is just like any other site, GC included. There are crazies and there will be smartasses. Annnnnnd, you can't tell too much detail about anything in your life because some people are crazy enough to take it THERE.

Cyberbullying thread part 2. :p

I'm on theknot only to keep my guest list. That feature is pretty good. I don't frequent any of the other areas but I'm a groom thankfully.

Don't get me wrong, I'm probably more involved in wedding planning than my fiance would like but its my day too.

One thing I don't get is why women seem to become a whole different beast for 1 day; an important day, but one day.

Do you have to show any sort of proof that you're engaged to get on theknot?

This could be a fun field trip. LOL.

Hee hee.

*gasp*

You mean the woman isn't just throwing an event for herself in which you just show up and say "I do?"

I've been involved in quite a few weddings and more often than not, the wedding is refered to by the bride as "MY DAY" or "MY BIG DAY" and the grooms are generally of the "just tell me what to wear and when to be there" persuasion.

What on earth do these bridezillas do on the knot?

KSUViolet06 10-27-2010 03:36 PM

Talk about their upcoming weddings.

Openly snark on other people's wedding plans.

I mean, I know WE snark, but their snark makes ours look like Sunday school.

The kicker: I popped over there when I saw this thread and saw that they have a wedding planning board for people who are NOT ENGAGED YET.

It's full of people whining about how their boyfriends won't propose and asking questions like "Is it okay for me to book the venue even though he hasn't asked me to marry him yet?"

Hilarious.

And the opposite is the case for most of my friends and family. We are big gender equality people and it is OUR DAY. If the man doesn't want to do any planning then that means they both hire a planner. I firmly believe that how the engagement and wedding process goes is a window into how the marriage and family process will go. If she's (he's) a crazy bitch then she's (he's) probably just a crazy bitch whose craziness was secret before then. If he's (she's) a lazy bitch then he (she) will probably be a lazy bitch forever.

Yup. I did this too. I still get Brides.com "Idea of the Day" e-mail because it's one e-mail every weekday that takes me under 60 seconds to read.

Good for you! She is probably really grateful for the help, but stressed. I know sometimes I would love to be able to just make a decision alone and I get annoyed when he pesters me, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I love that he cares about the wedding.

(Even when I had to send him about ninety different inspiration boards with color schemes, because he wasn't completely satisfied with the one we had chosen.... He finally sent one back to me with a color combination he approved of... and it was good!)

Sure, you can book the venue, but don't be surprised if you never have an event there. I can't even envision the snarktasticness over there.

Animate 10-29-2010 12:15 PM

LOL I popped in on the boards over there I nearly died laughing at some of these women. Its kind of sad honestly...

PeppyGPhiB 11-02-2010 09:52 PM

I actually got some good ideas and advice from The Knot local board. The national boards can be rough, but actually I don't find most of the women to be that bad. A lot of the things they call women out on are really rude, etiquette no-nos. Soooo many people asking how to politely ask for cash gifts, how to ask guests to bring food to the reception, how to invite some people to the wedding but not reception (or vise versa), etc. If people are that rude and don't have the common sense to know how to NOT treat their wedding party, family and guests, they deserve to hear it.
