Well Gaga also doesn't have to fight with congress tooth and nail to get things done.

Lady Gaga is bi.

I agree - "don't ask don't tell" is nonsense. Unfortunately, I don't think she'll get particularly far with the Maine senators - because of the Republican Party's conservative stance and because she's a resident of Connecticut, not Maine. But I have to applaud her for her attempts.

I fear that the former is afraid that she will be targeted in 2012.

Way to go giving an entertainer more props than the President. Yeah, Gaga has to grapple with balancing political issues and citizen concerns as President Obama does.

The Maine senators have a history of not voting (as often) the party line though. Even if they don't vote to repeal, they are some of the bets hope of breaking the essentially automatic filibuster. (As well as Scott Brown and a few others).

LOL. The E.T. one is the most random one.

I thought she was a hermaphrodite.

The appropriate term is intersexed and those are rather maliciously intended rumors.

DrPhil 09-21-2010 10:05 PM

On the terminology note, some hermaphrodites do not like the term "intersex" and prefer "disorders of sex development." Meanwhile, others prefer "hermaphrodite" or "intersex" as the biological or technical terms.

I remember when Jamie Lee Curtis was rumored to be a hermaphrodite. That tends to happen with people (particularly women) who are falsely labeled as androgynous because they don't have the (stereo)typical masculine or feminine traits.

That's a new one for me. I tend to roll with whatever someone tells me as their own identification of course.

That and the fact that she and her sister (Kelly) were both given names that can be used for either males or females.

Although if you've seen Trading Places, Jamie Lee's twins hardly lend themselves to androgyny rumors.

I think she has the right to express her opinion on whatever. But I agree, with your comment about taking her seriously. I thought she was a dope before she spoke out on this issue and I still have that opinion. :)

I wonder how many lawmakers thought, " I was against the repeal of DADT but now that Lady Caca has spoken up about it, I've changed my mind"?

She has no influence over politics.
