Oh okay. How would I go about finding people that I could meet? Or that would be willing to write recs?
Also, I know that it does give a leg up, but would not having a rec make me not recieve any bids?

We can't say for sure if a chapter will cut you if you don't have one because we don't know.

However, if you look at BleedOrangeBlue's post in this thread, MANY other girls will have them. You want to give yourself every leg up that you can get.

That's true, thanks.
How would I go about trying to locate alumnae? On the chapters' websites it says that you must log in to view the information. Is there any other source where I could find people in my area?

npcwomen.org

Search under "alumnae panhellenic" and find the one in your area and contact them.

You do not want to go to a collegiate chapter looking for a rec, and if you meant the national sites, the rec forms are for initiated sisters to access only.

Thank you so much! I will do that right now. :)

I know, and I'm not casting any sororities off by any means. I'm fully open to all of them, I'm just saying that if I can't get a rec from some chapters, I won't be as heartbroken if I'm cut (I'll have a better understanding of why) and can concentrate more on ones that I feel I have a better chance with, and have the recs for to give me a boost.

I just saw this, so I apologize if I'm a week late to reply.

Without having gone through recruitment, how do you know which ones you "have a better chance with"?
