Sigh... she's getting tired of hearing about it from me, so I think from now until the end of September, I'll shut up about it and leave her alone. If she wants to go through it (which she still claims she does) then she will have do it on her own. I helped her (and bugged her) enough with Rec related stuff.

She leaves for OU next Thursday! LIL has had a rough summer. Our parents got divorced about 5 years ago, and mom remarried last summer, and dad recently announced he's remarrying this fall. The transition has been the hardest on her, and she is DYING to get out of our hometown. I think going away to college will be the best thing for her right now (hopefully, fingers, eyes, toes crossed) and it helps her focus and get herself together. I haven't bugged her or brought up recruitment anymore at all. Our middle brother's girlfriend is an active in a chapter at OU though, and she told me that LIL mentioned still wanting to rush just last weekend. I'm going to let the GF take over bugging LIL about signing up for rush and handle answering questions and stuff. LIL really likes GF, so fingers crossed that not only does LIL go through recruitment, but that she doesn't become too biased towards GFs chapter. (What's funny is that LIL and GF look like sisters, way more than LIL and me... everyone notices the strong resemblence except for the 2 of them and Brother).
I just sent LIL her graduation gift (I was still unemployed when she graduated, and couldnt afford to get her what I wanted). I sent her a huge tote full of personal items any new college student might need. I stocked her up on nail polish, and found the CUTEST OU green color. She loves it and is so excited to become a Bobcat! Even better is that OU is only an hour away from where I work, so once my husband is done with his work in WV and is back home, I'll be able to visit her pretty easily. |
Aww.. the tote sounds great! I love OU and secretly wanted one of my guys to go there so I could visit that gorgeous campus and fun town. I hope she goes through recruitment. It sounds like it would give her a wonderful home away from home. Fingers crossed.

Hoping for the best for LIL!

I wanted my older S to go there too. They even gave him some scholarship money, but he just wasn't feeling it ...

LIL moves to OU tomorrow! This is her last night at home. Bid day is first weekend in October! Fingers crossed she adjusts well!
|
I hope she has a considerate roommate, fun hallmates, and a GREAT RECRUITMENT!
|
Yay! I love Ohio stories and I know a few girls in the AOII chapter down there from when they came up north o participate in our philanthropy. Obviously I'm biased :) but I hope she has an easy transition and a great recruitment should she decide to pursue it.

Any updates? I thought OU began recruitment this week.

Next weekend. :) A few events next weekend, and Bid Day is October 3rd. She and her roomate both are planning on going through. She's very VERY concerned about the cost. My parents will not help her out (they didn't help me either). She has a campus job already, but she owes some money back home, and she needs to prioritize. I told her to express her concerns during recruitment, and hopefully things will work themselves out.

We have a family member that may be rushing at her college. Although our excitement when she chose a school with an AOII chapter far exceed her curiosity about recruitment and said she wasn't interested.
We wanted to strangle her! But then she got to campus and went to the icebreaker events sponsored by the panhellenic and then called to talk to us about rushing. I still don't know if she is actually registered and her rush is this week. I don't want to be all over her and zap the fun out of it for her, but at the same time the curiosity is killing me! |
What rush is this week? The schedule below is what's posted on the OU Panhel website.
