Most NPHC organizations are not interested in existing at UMES. There are issues which predate you that suggest that it isn't a viable location. It's not personal. Unless you see fliers advertising a rush, I would put my energy into graduating with a strong GPA and participating in things which you can only do in college. Once you graduate, you can begin your pursuit into an alumnae chapter. |

we have 3 fraternity's and one sorority. During Greek Week at school the students protested against the GLO that are active on the campus .

That's a rather significant decision on the part of the National. The only reason that I can think that it would really make sense is if there is *no* trust of the alumni of the chapter in the local area. |

But you are right that it may not be the actual reason for the new charter. In regards to this situation, I'd love to be proven wrong, or even to have another reason presented that makes sense to me. Randy |
Hello.. i attended UMES.. In Spring of 06.. Sorority Greek life was starting to come back on campus.. We had ZETAS, AKAs and DST on the yard... unfortunately..since then the chapters have either been removed or suspended for hazing... A chapter cannot be on a college campus without graduate chapter sponsorship.. many of the graduate chapters have decided not to sponsor chapters at umes.. because of the hazing.. honestly there is nothing UMES can do to bring the sororities back without the sponsorship of a graduate center.. and unfortunately.. many of the graduate chapters just want nothing to do with the school.
