^Speaks the truth! Also, some sororities may show their dues on an 8-month school year basis, others show them on a full year (12 months). Be sure to ask, because that "bargain" at a full year may be more expensive than the 8-month dues plan.

I just want to add that do you know for sure whether chapters will even be participating next spring? Since there is formal in the fall, there is no way for you to know now who will be at/under/above total and hence participating in informal. I would urge you to look into that before formal registration is over and it's too late! Also, why the hesitation with formal? If you truly are keeping an open mind and want sisterhood I would suggest trying formal first and then worrying about informal. Good luck!

Yeah, what syd said. "Counting" on chapters to have spots open and do informal rush is a very bad idea. If chapters WERE that far away from total that you could count on them having spots a year from now, they would have probably contacted the Greek life office for girls who didn't get a bid in this past formal, and called you already.
Not trying to blow sunshine, but getting recs may help you more than you realize in formal rush. Get your recs and try it again. |
I have thought about it and talked to friends and my mother. I've decided to do formal recruitment a second time and get recs for as many sororities as possible to greatly increase my chances of being asked back. Thank you all for your help in my decision as well. :)
