Ah, kinda like Spinal Tap and the Monkeys.

Such a bad song, I can't imagine why anyone would care?

Not really. The pussycat dolls is a burlesque group or started out that way. The cheeta girls were a pure girl group. They were invented for a disney movie, but ended up being popular and even touring a bit. And I didn't know about the books.

Cheetah Girls is a popular children's novel series about 4-5 black/mixed-black girls in early middle school who sang in a singing group that were MUCH younger than Disney made them out to be in the films. They were not created by Disney.

That's interesting. I knew there were books, but the books I've seen came after the Disney Cheetah Girls, because the pictures on the cover would be of Adrienne, Raven, Keily and Sabrina. Keily was always my least favorite Cheetah and my least favorite 'LW.' lol

Cheetah Girls just sounds like a stripper group/club. Burlesque is an art form, and the PussyCat Dolls, well, not very true to burlesque with that reality show.

Y'all do know she's not really a Cheetah girl in real life right? lol. Some people are out here mad like she broke the girl scout oath and the cheetah girl code of conduct. lol.
She's grown so expecting her to cater to the cheetah girl/3LW age group isnt realistic. And any fan who remembers her from 3LW is old enough to watch this video. I think thats one of the reasons she did this song & video. To get out of that innocent, never had sex, good girl image she once had.

Though I can't relate to getting messed up in the club and having a one night stand I enjoyed so immensely that I'd want to do the guy again there are a considerable number of women/men who can. Drunk sex is very common. Drunk one night stands are also very common. If this video was marketed toward kids I'd have more of a problem with it. As it is I'm not really mad at it. I actually liked it. I found the song socially relevant, but a little too Paula Abdul-in-the-80's ish. The artistry of the video was hot though(minus the pale ass). It sounds like what I'd expect a woman who's just had a great one night stand to say. I dont remeber people being this up in arms about the movie Knocked Up.

Idk,mybffphil. I dont follow her life like that to know, but even if she has a munchkin that apparently hasnt changed her public "good girl" image if peeps are mad b/c they think she has a "young girl" following.

Were people this mad at Solonge's song T.O.N.Y (The.Other.Night.Y)?
ETA: Though if she does have a kid now we can give a good guess as to how she ended up knocked up. lol.

It is silly and yet to be expected that folks feel that the way to show that they have grown up is by talking about all of the sex they have had; particularly when that sex is with virtual strangers under the influence of drugs or alcohol (rather the height of immaturity considering all of the ways to talk about or think about sex, at least in my mind).

I don't know this Solange song, but if it is anything like this one, it is probably pretty stupid too.

Waaaaaiiit a minute, I kinda liked that song. Tony is an acronym? What does that mean? I think I may have misunderstood the entire thing.

*looking up lyrics*

ETA: Congratulate me. I just learned something.

I used to sit in B & N and read them LONG before Disney ever heard of them. I can confirm that the books were prior to the films and the girls looked nothing like in the films.

I'm pretty sure, as I mentioned earlier, that she has a son. I am also VERY certain it was before Cheetah Girls.

ETA: I LOVE T.O.N.Y. and I didn't really pay attention the the lyrics, but it's not as vulgar if it is the same situation. I was under the impression it was more of a love song "Tony don't call me no more", etc.

2: Sorry for the double post.

christiangirl 04-26-2010 08:29 PM

You know, I just looked her up on Wiki and this song isn't mentioned ANYWHERE in the discography.

BTW: Her son's not mentioned either, but I do believe she did have one before Cheetah days.

Oooh I might have to check them out and see if they are good to enter into my mini classroom library (for that future class I hope to get! lol). I'm always looking for good books.

Eh. Its all in how you take it. Being irresponsible is a part of growing up. I think the point was to go far out there and not just talk about sex, making love or anything nice. Thats why she was on the whole "not every story is a good one" spiel on youtube. Sometimes the story is like this one. I kind of like that she didnt do the whole im soft and danity and a lady and Ive grown up (think: Brittany Spears "not a girl not a woman" and then being a sex slave). She went there to say Im grown, I party, I drink, I have amazing sex, I feel shame about the stupid mistakes, but Im me and Im cool with it. She didnt feel the need to shy away from the topic and be demure. She straight up said I had a drunk one night stand that I dont totally remember but damn it was good.
