Oh I always loved this song.
But...I don't like the video. I can heterosexually appreciate a woman with a nice body...LOL...and the poetic expression of the video matched the "window seat" theme--but it didn't entertain me. And...I don't look to recording artists for enlightenment...just entertain me and sitchoass(no pun intended)downsomewhere. |
On the local news:
Coming up at 9 - A woman who was there with her children when the singer bared all and what she plans to do about it! DPD already said that they aren't going to do anything. What does this woman think she's going to do? I guess I'll see at 9... ETA: "I was a fan until that moment!" She's going to file a complaint about the video and is now talking live with Fox News. It looks like her daughter was coached before doing the interview. Apparently, the filming lasted for about 30 seconds and "traumatized" her daughter. GTFOHWTBS. |
I can't believe she walked barefoot on a city street, and I think a woman covered the eyes of her little boy at about 3:00 in the link from the first post.
I really liked when music videos told a story that wasn't completely explained in the song. Of course that can be dangerous when someone like R.Kelly does it. |
You mean you didn't like In the Closet???

Sometimes the music doesn't merit the video.

Random observation: Her last album was very political, but she released a light-hearted song as the leading single. This album is pretty much the opposite (more laid back, with a "controversial" leading video). Maybe that was her plan? I don't know. |
DALLAS - Dallas police and the city attorney say Erykah Badu broke the law when she stripped naked at Dealey Plaza in front of visitors, including children.
Dallas police announced Friday they will be charging the Dallas singer with disorderly conduct in connection with her controversial video filmed in downtown Dallas. The citation is expected to be issued next week. http://www.wfaa.com/news/entertainme...-89798802.html |
Good. Musicians don't get a pass unless the laws change for the general population.
As far as I'm concerned, what she did was a very "follower" thing to do. She knew it would get a lot of attention and spark sales of her album. I wish she had let her good music and lyrics do that. |
Throw her ass UNDER the jail!

Another Erykah "controversy"

Dumb and boring video, double meanings and all. Yeah...we get it. Great.
Naked does not bother me so wooptywoo. Breasts, butt, vagina...congrats on losing the weight, Erykah Badu. The images in the video had meaning to her but it bored the hell out of me even the final cum shot scene. It does seem as though she is being contrary and controversial for the sake of being contrary and controversial. Most importantly, I love "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face." Shout out to Ewan MacColl/Peggy Seeger and Roberta Flack (who did the first remake and the best remake). |
