Getting fired for 10 or 15 bucks is a bit ridiculous. If she has a history of this, fine but it's not like she stole it and plus (rightfully so) she offered to pay it back.

That's the manager's decision. You never know why they did this, maybe they were looking at having to cut everyone's hours back vs. letting someone go or there was a record of malfeasance on her part. The article doesn't, unfortunately, make us privy to her history with that employer or that employer's particular situation.
