BAHAHA! couldn't they just have donated the milk to mothers unable to produce milk for their own babies?

Live-in suggested that we make our tres leche cake quatro leche - you know where this is going.
He also wants to know if it's FDA approved. |
Congrats, kddani!
I nursed my daughter for a year and couldn't imagine ever turning the milk into cheese. Not to mention that it certainly isn't sanitary to share breastmilk like that. All the same reasons breast pumps can't be handed down or sold like strollers or carseats. You never know what the mother may have that she's not aware of. Creepy, to say the least. And how the eff is she able to get that much milk in the first place? PUT DOWN THE PUMP, WOMAN! Unless you're a full-time working mom, you don't need that kind of stash. |

I know that I'm just contributing to it right now, but I really hate that this thread keeps getting bumped...the title alone grosses me out, lol

Congrats danni! I hope you have a wonderful and long nursing relationship! I too am a breastfeeding mom for almost a year now (I will be in total denial of her 1 year bday until it is actually here in 2 weeks!).
I understand it makes some people uncomfortable since we're talking human boobs here and they are mostly seen as sexual. However, why is it that human milk (which, btw, is nutrition made just for humans) is seen as disgusting and cow or goat milk (which is nutrition made for cows and goats) is normal? Don't take this as me being anti-cow/goat milk. It just seems weird that something pumped out of another species is normal to eat in different formats (cheese, yogurt, etc) and the same liquid pumped out of our species is weird. I think making cheese with breast milk is a little weird, but I don't think it's gross. Unless a mom has one of few diseases (like HIV/AIDS and a few others), human breast milk is actually sanitary. It has antibodies that fight off bacteria and keep the milk "clean." |
