The Adopt-A-Highway suggestion is a wonderful one. My chapter adopted a mile of busy highway in town when I was in school. Even when we weren't there physically picking up trash (which we did once a month), the sign saying "Delta Zeta Sorority" was there for all to see. I can't tell you how many comments I received from local residents when they saw me wearing a DZ shirt. They instantly recognized our name! It's such a simple philanthropy project, too. Anyone can do it, no matter how big or small your chapter is!

Red--

I agree with all that you've said. It's really important to make contact with all of the local media before you go sending off a release, but I assume people have already done that. Silly me http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif

The best way is to set up philanthropies in the area, to do some good things for the community. Going to a school that has a bad view of the greek system in general, it's pretty satisfying to have just gone and helped some little kids, or worked the Walk for Hunger, and then hear them try to criticize you.

Deltalum and Shadokat,
You certainly stated the importance of keeping the lists active. I just wanted to give some additional insight for organizations that have media coverage problems. It's surprising what people forget to do.
It's good to see there are other PR people on this website!
