I was living a hellish existence and had nothing to give but online chat. I wasn't well enough to get out and socialize, but am a very social person, so online flirtations were great for me at that time.

More often, I think those people are married though.

I was the same way after my diagnosis. I knew I couldn't get out and socialize, and that helped me feel connected to the outside world. My current mister is from Chemistry, but we have been seeing each other twice a week for 3 months. We do the daily "Good morning!", "Hope you're having a good day," and the occasional random text about something that happened during the day. Most nights we'll talk before bed just to see how each other's days went. Before I met him, though, I did have a few text-based flirtatious things going on that I knew wouldn't become more. However, one guy didn't seem to get the memo and still bugs the ever-living sh*t outta me.

That usually means the significant other is in the room. RED FLAG! lol

My post was supposed to say "she shouldn't have--different topic."

Well, you kinda have to see another person's views on it. Some people might get off on actually meeting the person, but then you have some people who really get off on just flirting and not really wanting to pursue the person. It's just flirting, nothing more nothing less. People do the same shit without actually texting. I did some heavy flirting with a chick at the bar this weekend. I didn't want anything from her, I was just doing a little flirting. It's not like I wanted to nail her or anything. Just because someone does this via text doesn't make it a bad thing. I know guys and chicks who do this all the time.

We're talking about more than flirtation. Welcome back. :)

Yes it does, if you have a plan where you have to pay for your texts.

Now, there’s a new online annoyance — the person who doesn’t want to meet but is all too happy to e-mail, text, tweet, IM, or scrawl on your Facebook wall indefinitely. They don’t want a real relationship as much as its virtual doppelganger.
Welcome to the world of the “elationship.”

I remember when "elationship" meant something else entirely.

I'm old now. :(

I know I'm late to the party, but this made me LOL. :D

Tried the "I don't have a cell phone" line last night and just gave him my land line #. We will see if this plan is successful.
